Although she was offered a major deal with Columbia, Joan preferred to work with the joan preferred to work with the independent label Vanguard. Recorded within 4 days in the ballroom of a New Hotel, Joan's first album contained little more than her voice and guitar Voice and her guitar. Released in 1960, the album charted for the first time in 1962, when their 2nd album brought the breakthrough.
