Amir was produced by PJ Maertens and Jo Francken and recorded at Maertens' home studio in Belgium and Audiworkx Studios in Holland. The 21-year-old musician with Belgian, Egyptian and Lebanese roots, has crafted an album marked by a waking, deeply emotional and attention-demanding energy
Amir features tracks from his previous EP Habibi, such as Indigo Night, on which Radiohead's Colin Greenwood played bass. For the most part, the record is purely a solo work, but in part augmented by musicians from the Brussels-based Arab music collective Nagham Zikrayat, a group of professional instrumentalists from the Middle East, many with refugee backgrounds from Iraq and Syria
On Amir, Tamino addresses a full range of emotions, from romance to despair. Mood music at its finest, in all colors and facets.
