Zapp (also known as The Zapp Band or Zapp And Roger) are without question one of the most influential bands in the Subgenre of electronic funk. The band made a name for themselves in the early Eighties due to their inflationary use of the talk box, which was later which later became the trademark of the band trademark. Zapp are at least partly responsible for the G-funk in hip hop Hip Hop; many of their songs were inspired by Hip Hop Artists such as Dr. Dre.

The original line-up of Zapp consisted of the four brothers Roger, Larry, Lester and Terry Troutman along with Bobby Glover and Gregory Jackson. In the early days of their career they worked closely with George Clinton and Bootsy Collins.

Their debut "I" was released in 1980 and was reminiscent of the legendary P-Funk sound, which is due to the influence of Clinton's and Collins' input. Zapp's notoriety in the mainstream was based almost on the single "More Bounce To The Ounce" from the same album same album, which today is considered an absolute classic of the electronic funk of the eighties. The single brought the Album gold status almost overnight.
